This pile of ancient Roman road pavers, stacked haphazardly in a corner of the Via Giulia work site, seem to have come from the ancient road that was excavated there in 2008-2009. That ancient road is visible in the second photograph. See also the accompanying details of that photo. It is hard to understand why the Sovrintendenza permitted the destruction of that important ancient trace for the building of a private underground parking lot.
