SU Workshop Excursions near Rome, Italy
2000-present

Several day trips and weekend excursions are affiliated with the SU Rome workshops. The SU workshop directors have taken study groups to Bagnaia (Villa Lante), Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli, Ostia Antica, Caprarola, and Frascati. The relationship of the urban design and planning of the spaces/places in these cities to urban developments found in Rome is a pertinent portion of the workshop sessions. On-site lectures and discussions are a fundamental part of the excursion, and articles about the city/site are distributed prior to the visit. These trips are a fundamental part of the workshop sessions and add to the richness of the debate about the design, history, and development of architecture, landscape elements, and urban form in and around Rome.
